The focus of many researchers today is nano technology. Especially magnetic nano research has attracted a lot of researchers very recently. The fact being that the individual magnetic particles in this material offers a great magnetic field that can be used in hi-tech diagnosis.

The focus of research is right now on the magnetic nanoparticles and recently it is found that these can be utilized in amazing number of diagnosis purposes. For a person suffering from blood-clot stroke, these particles can be used to destroy those blood clots and make the patient regain normalcy.

Know the Types of Magnetic Nanoparticles

Researchers believe that from the traditional method, use of these particles can give 100 to 1000 times’ faster result! This is enough for the patient to recover completely. The properties are aplenty, but their superparamagetism is the predominant of all. With the types of properties it exhibits, they can be classified into various types.

Ferrites or Oxides:

Iron oxide nanoparticles fall under this category. It is the most explored among all the magnetic particles that exist today.

Ferrites with a shell:

One can make these particles reactive by applying a coating of silica on its surface. This becomes a silica shell and the molecules can now react and thus contributing to higher chemical stability. These particles also exhibit higher colloidal stability and retains its super paramagnetic ability when external factors try to affect its nature.

Metallic:

There are normal metallic nano particles and oxide metallic nano particles. While the former is used in magnetic purposes, the latter is used widely in bio-medicine.

Metallic with a shell:

Graphene acts as a shell and this was identified recently. It improves magnetization, becomes stable in acidic and basic solutions and also in organic solvents.

It is a well-known fact that nano materials are used in bio-medicine in drug delivery and targeting cancer cells. This is a novel type of research and when these particles are induced, they help in the treatment of water.

In the genetic engineering, these are extensively used. In fact, the full utilities of these particles have not been found and researches are going on every day!
